DISTRIBUTECH International has announced a new initiative to be launched at the 2023 event. The Future Energy Leaders programme was created to give engineering students the chance to experience the show and take advantage of education and networking opportunities to help them break into the industry.

DISTRIBUTECH takes place in San Diego, California February 7-9, 2023.

“Giving students the opportunity to attend the event and meet with key players in the industry is critical to moving the industry forward,“ says Nicole Furnia, director, university relations, early talent and employer branding for the Americas, ABB. “Students will have the chance to meet with industry leaders in an environment designed for networking and relationship building, it’s invaluable to their career progression as they enter the workforce.”

Participants in the programme will receive a full conference pass to the event, admission to a Utility University course the day before the conference starts, a certificate of completion when three or more sessions are attended, a guided floor tour designed to show students around the exhibit hall, and admission to the Future Energy Leaders reception where they will have networking opportunities with recruiters.

“We are excited to support DISTRIBUTECH in launching this programme for the 2023 event,” says SDG&E director of electric system planning Alan Dulgeroff. “Having students attend the show and get real-world experience surrounding the challenges, solutions, and trending topics within the industry gives them the chance to grow within their fields and rise to the challenges that are presented. It gives participants a leg-up as they begin their careers.”

DISTRIBUTECH is also partnering with a number of universities that have students participating in the program. The full list of schools can be found here.

“The introduction of the Future Energy Leaders programme is an initiative we are proud to bring to the industry,” says Stephanie Kolodziej, Portfolio Director, Transmission and Distribution. “Guiding these students through the show, every step of the way, is a great way to connect them with the people they need to meet with to launch their careers. Fostering meaningful connections has always been the mission of DISTRIBUTECH, and we’re excited to bring this level of networking to the next generation of engineers in the industry.”
